I know I haven't seen it yet, but...
I think I have an idea of how First Sunday will go. The basic plot: two guys try to rob a church after a big fundraiser. My prediction: a little bit funny, a lot of almost-jokes, and then finished off with a serving of second chances. ( I am cheating, since I've already read one review)
Anywho, I think a movie like this raises lots of fascinating questions. First, is this a new low in the esteem people hold for churches? What makes someone think of a church robbery as a key to a movie's plot?
Second, how crazy is it to think that a church would have that much money in it? My church has been broken into three times in the last year and a half, and I don't think any of the robbers got more than $5 in cash. They did get a TV set on one occasion, but still.
Hmmm..... that's probably enough questions for now. Cheers!

interesting, because our vicar just raised the issue of having all of the offering counters bonded. but I think you're right, in the days of check writing and direct withdrawal for tithing, there's not nearly as much cash in a church as maybe there used to be. and i don't think that stealing from churches is a particularly new phenomenon. unusual, sure, but not new.
Wow - bonded! It seems like having 2 or 3 people working together, and rotating pairs (and no married couples) ought to be enough. As Oscar Wilde said, "I can resist anything but temptation" :)
