Saved, part 2
So the other thing that I liked about the movie Saved (aside from seeing MacCauley Culkin in a sarcastic and fun role--do you root for former child stars, too? hoping their lives haven't been laid waste by spending childhood on cuteness for us?) was that at the end our heroine came to a fairly complicated conclusion about how God works in the world: not always in rigid rules, but sometimes through the chaos of creation. In her case, rather literally.
Okay, so she didn't say it quite that way. It was more like: loving relationship prevails over hurtful laws. But still, when she got done I remembered some of my own experiences breaking through that kind of a barrier from right/wrong or black/white to something more nuanced and open to God's Spirit. I can live with that kind of a theology. Fer sure.
